This interdisciplinary conversation will address the State of Equality in 2021. The John and Katherine Rosenbloom Endowed Symposium for the Exploration of Ideas was established in 2016 to support engaging interdisciplinary, relevant, and thoughtful discussions on important issues in honor of former Colorado Law Dean Phil Weiser and the lectures he implemented during his deanship. Presented in partnership with the University of Colorado Law School and the University of Colorado Boulder Conference on World Affairs.

• What do we mean by equality?

• Do different fields of inquiry think about equality differently?

• What are some prominent, contemporary examples of the harmful effects of inequality on well-being?

• Is some inequality inevitable and perhaps, even desirable?

• What inequalities should be addressed first, among those forms that are considered undesirable?

• What have we learned from past successes and failures about moving toward greater equality as a society?

Dean Lolita Buckner Inniss of the University of Colorado Law School will moderate a discussion by scholars of law, philosophy, and politics on these questions and more.
